Colts Owner Jim Irsay Says QB Peyton Manning Hasn't Passed Our Physical

Colts owner Jim Irsay responded to the ESPN report that doctors have cleared quarterback Peyton Manning to resume his football career, Irsay tweeted at 1:25 a.m. this morning the following: Peyton has not passed our physical nor has he been cleared to play for The Indianapolis Colts. Team statement coming on Friday. Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star reports a source with direct knowledge of the situation said "nothing's new'' regarding Manning's situation. The team still has serious concerns about his long-term health. Even with Dr. Watkins' latest evaluation, it's possible Manning won't pass a Colts- administered physical at the proper time. Tuesday, Manning dismissed a report he would retire because of the neck situation. "I have no plans on doing that,'' he said. "My plan hasn't changed. I'm on track with (what) the doctors have told me to do. I'm doing that. I'm rehabbing hard.'' The next day, team owner Jim Irsay emphasized the "complicated nature'' of Manning's injury, they are expected to meet next week to discuss Manning's future with the team, Irsay said a decision on Manning "probably will go into early March. It's a serious medical thing.''

Jim Irsay has the potential to become the Dan Gilbert of the NFL if he plays his cards right.

i think it should be very obvious to everyone at this point that what we have going on right now is a political campaign by both sides that they both want to be a very public debate to try and protect their images.

I think I'm done listening or reading anything about this subject because it's obviously now just at the point of being a pissing match between peyton and irsay ........................ I will re-join this topic when something concrete actually happens.

I agree with your analysis of this, too many people are crediting the media with turning this into a shitstorm and that's not the case. Irsay should do something smart and shut down the stupid twitter acct.

Peyton's doctor said he's cleared. He hasn't passed the Colts physical and I'll bet he hasn't even come close to taking a physical with the Colts. Not really sure what the issues are here. Neither side is lying or positioning themselves. It's pretty much the truth coming from "both sides."
