| Lions Coach Jim Schwartz Vows Not To Talk About Impending Contract Extension | | | Lions coach Jim Schwartz is expected to receive a contract extension this offseason, but might be the wrong person to ask about it. "The next time I talk about my contract will be the first time," Schwartz said. "Maybe I should say the next I talk about my contract will be never." Schwartz has one season remaining a four-year contract. Since taking over as head coach in 2009, Detroit was 2-14 in Schwartz's first season and 6-10 in 2010. Under Schwartz, Detroit finished 10-6 during the regular season and made their first playoff appearance since 1999. The Lions recently re-signed their assistant coaches so with Schwartz's staff in place, Detroit can safely work on his deal. "It's just something that I'm not really going to comment on because it has nothing to do with where we are and the success of the team," Schwartz said. "It has nothing with what we are on a daily basis. For us to be successful we need to sort of stick with ... we can't expect carry over to be from last year to this year, just like we talked a lot last year about winning the last four. That doesn't necessarily mean that it carries over. It's all about the process and what we go through and none of that is going to change." Source: MLive.com
