Jets Could Save $15m By Releasing WR Santonio Holmes By Feb 8th

The Jets have to make a decision on wide receiver Santonio Holmes before next Wednesday, based on a clause in the five-year, $45 million contract he signed before the season according to Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com. Team officials have said Holmes, whose season-long rift with Sanchez became public at the end of the season, will be on the team next season. But if they wanted to release him, they’d have to do it by Wednesday to avoid a $15 million guarantee. As it stands now, he’s already guaranteed $7.75 million for 2012.

I'd be shocked if the Jets kept him. They need to send him back to Pittsburgh where he was apparently happy. All he's done with the Jets is pout when things aren't going the way he wants.

Nah Pitt has the WRs they need now, doesn't even seem to be room for him there. Whoever pays him the most and claims to be able to fix his shitty attitude will sign him.

If he takes a s discount then I wouldn't mind him in Miami, beside I'm sure he would love to stick it to the Jets twice a year.
