Andy Reid Says He Offered Steve Spagnuolo Job On Eagles' Defensive Staff

Eagles coach Andy Reid said he offered Steve Spagnuolo a coaching position before the former St. Louis Rams coach chose to be the defensive coordinator in New Orleans. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday for the first time since the regular-season finale on Jan. 1, Reid said he didn't specify a job title in his conversations with Spagnuolo, who was fired after going 10-38 in three seasons with the Rams. Spagnuolo previously worked under defensive coordinator Jim Johnson in Philadelphia, and was the defensive coordinator for the New York Giants when they beat New England in Super Bowl XLII. He joined the Saints two weeks ago after defensive coordinator Gregg Williams left for the same position with the Rams. Reid also said he planned to retain defensive coordinator Juan Castillo all along. Castillo was heavily criticized in his first season at a new position after coaching the offensive line for 13 years.

The common sense tells us that you are right...but how many times do you scratch your head at things like this. I wouldn't be surprised either way...
