Former Steelers LBs Coach Keith Butler Expected To Become Colts DC

Pittsburgh Steelers linebackers coach Keith Butler is expected to become the Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Butler has spent the last nine seasons with the Steelers and was thought to be the heir apparent to Dick LeBeau as Pittsburgh's defensive coordinator. The Steelers have blocked Butler from interviewing for coordinator positions in the past, but Butler's contract in Pittsburgh is expiring and LeBeau has already said that he's returning for 2012. Butler and Colts head coach Chuck Pagano were position coaches with Cleveland Browns from 2001-02. With the Colts hiring Pagano and soon adding Butler, it's pretty clear that the Tampa-2 defense will be replaced with an aggressive 3-4 scheme.

Would be a bad move for the Steelers IMO.

i don't think Irsay could be sending any more of a clear signal that this is a complete, 100% re-build and he is wanting to become more of a defensive organization .............. i think at this point that it's really obvious that peyton is not in irsay's future picture for this team. the only question at this point is whether peyton will ever take another snap with a different team.
