| Dolphins Set To Hire Mike Sherman As Offensive Coordinator | | | Barring any last-minute surprises, Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin is expected to name Mike Sherman as his offensive coordinator on Friday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports. A head coaching candidate with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and offensive coordinator candidate with the Cleveland Browns, the 57-year-old Sherman gave Philbin his first NFL coaching opportunity as an assistant offensive line coach with the Green Bay Packers in 2003. Sherman was 59-43 in his six seasons with the Packers, and after two seasons as an assistant with the Houston Texans became the head coach of the Texas A&M program in 2008. Sherman has also coached tight ends with the Packers (1997-98) and was the Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator in 1999. Sherman replaces Brian Daboll and inherits an offense that ranked 22nd in total offense -- 11th in rushing offense, 23rd in passing offense -- and were 20th in scoring offense with a 20.6 points per game average.
