Former Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress is expected to land the offensive coordinator position with the Cleveland Browns, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports. According to Cabot, Childress is one of two finalists for the position, which was vacant in head coach Pat Shurmur's first season with the Browns. The other candidate is former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike Sherman, who is expected to be hired as the Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator on Friday. Childress, 56, was the Vikings head coach from 2006-10. Before that, Childress coached with the Philadelphia Eagles from 1999-2005, coaching quarterbacks before adding coordinator duties in 2003.

He or Sherman would be acceptable hires, experience is key because Shurmur flat out doesn't have it yet. With such a green head coach, they were very smart to get Jauron last year and look what happened: a top 10 D with a completely new system when experts said they straight up didn't have the personnel for yet.

Childress could get that offense firing, and if they fill some holes well like they did last draft, I see no reason the Browns can't match what the Bengals threw together this season. Let's remember Cleveland went from maybe the oldest team in the league under Mangini to the youngest in the NFL, put in new offense and defense, and did it all in the worst offseason ever with no TC. It's been forever since the team had a foundation making such solid decisions.
