NFL Won't Investigate Scoreboard Issue At End Of AFC Championship Game

The NFL is not currently investigating the apparent scoreboard discrepancy at Gillette Stadium that caused confusion on the Ravens' sideline in the final seconds of their 23-20 loss to the Patriots in the AFC championship game. A source close to the situation said Tuesday night that the league has not received a complaint from the Ravens, and that its on-site football operations crew did not notice anything that would warrant follow-up. Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff appeared to rush onto the field before missing a 32-yarder that would have tied the game. He would later confide to Stefan Fatsis, writing for Slate and Deadspin, that his pre-kick routine -- which is based on what down it is -- was mangled because the scoreboard was a down behind the actual play on the field. Linebacker Terrell Suggs told ESPN the last-minute drive was marred by miscommunication that stemmed from confusion caused by a difference in what the scoreboard said and what officials on the field were saying about the down and distance.

The coaches should know the current score. If not, they're doing a bad job...

it wasnt an issue on the score. it was about the downs and distance.

of course the nfl wont investigate, goodell is so far up craft's ass that his ankles barley dangle out. why else would he detroy evidence od spygate when it happened ? who does that ? who destroys evidence ?

no doubt the stadium people were conveniently having technical issues on the final. it's along the lines of how teams have the field soaked when a high speed offense comes in.

that said, in this case, your coaches are at fault if the players are not ready. period.

harbaugh pulled an andy reid here by mis-handling his game management.

Harbaugh had 2 timeouts. If he was confused he should have used one a straightened it out. I don't think this error had anything to do with foul play or anything like that.

lol, somehow I missed the last 5 minutes of the game
But even that, the coaches should know, or just looking at the downmarker

agreed. it's all on the coaches. i watched and said he's gonna miss it with how rushed they were and wondered why the hell harbaugh didn't call a timeout.

My thoughts exactly, call a damn timeout. If your a coach you should be keeping track of down and distance, hell as a player when I was on the sideline I always kept track of down and distance in case someone made a mistake.
