Jerry Jones Says Cowboys Will Sign Free Agents With Cap Space

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wouldn't get into prioritizing the team's off-season needs Monday -- the first day of Senior Bowl practices -- because he said it would create a competitive disadvantage for them in the draft and free agency according to Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News. Jones did say, however, that by releasing five offensive players before last season, the Cowboys have put themselves in a competitive position this off-season to add players via free agency. "We've done an outstanding job. I give Stephen [Jones] a lot of credit. We thought this would be Armageddon for us this year and we were able to do some things last year with the cap that really puts us and gives us some viability. Stephen and a lot of the crew he works with regarding the cap, regarding the contracts and all of that, has given us a chance to have some room to improve this team this year and we will use it. It's very important that we are highly competitive this year."

See ya later Denny. I used to think he had a lot of potential. Kind of a weird throwing motion, but there was a time where I thought he was the long term answer to being a back up (and Batch coming off the bench in game if Ben was injured.). But after seeing Dixon recently, he seems to have regressed IMO and really seems out if place. At this point, I think I'd rather go with Leftwich and Troy Smith over Batch and Dixon....if you had to pair them up. I'd prefer they find a stronger back up candidate, but I think they'll be set on Leftwich...

year imo so I feel we have a good chance of making some good signings.
Typical comment from a die hard cowboys fan...justnlook at how this roster is build. No back ups to push starters at their positions thats why there's so much mediocre performance on the field. Look at the last three drafts thats why this team is in a predicament it's in now signing a bunch of free agents.
