Did Giants Special Teamers Try To Concuss 49ers WR Kyle Williams?

The Giants did their homework on Kyle Williams, after the backup punt returner was responsible for two late turnovers in the 49ers' 20-17 NFC title loss to New York, several Giants explained, in brutal terms, why they thought they could rattle Williams. The man who recovered both of Williams' fumbles, Devin Thomas, told the Star-Ledger that the 49er was targeted for his history of head trauma. "We were just like, 'We gotta put a hit on that guy,' " Thomas said. "(Tyler) Sash did a great job hitting him early and he looked kind of dazed when he got up. I feel like that made a difference and he coughed it up." The Giants' Jacquian Williams, who forced the second fumble, confirmed the plan. "The thing is, we knew he had four concussions, so that was our biggest thing, was to take him outta the game," he said.
