But Williams' father, White Sox general manager Kenny Williams, told ESPN Chicago on Monday that his son was playing with a left shoulder injury at the time of his fumbled overtime punt that directly led to the New York Giants' winning field goal. "He thinks he may have separated his shoulder in the third quarter, so he is in the training room," Kenny Williams said in a telephone interview from San Francisco. "That information he has not said anything about publicly and will not because he felt strongly that he could get the job done. There are no excuses; we don't do that. I don't want that misconstrued." Williams added that his son was receiving treatment for an unspecified injury Monday. Kyle Williams was thrust into punt-return duties against the Giants with Ted Ginn Jr. inactive because of a knee injury sustained the previous week against the New Orleans Saints. Williams muffed another punt in the fourth quarter that led to a Giants touchdown. Kenny Williams said he didn't believe his son's shoulder issues played a role in the fumbles. "He felt he could get the job done," Williams said. "He didn't. End of story." Source: NFL.com
