Mike McCoy Thinks Unwillingness To Keep Todd Bowles Cost Him Job With Dolphins

During the Dolphins interview of Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, the topic of defensive coordinator came up. And the Dolphins told McCoy they really liked Todd Bowles and would like him to hire Bowles as the defensive coordinator. McCoy told the Dolphins that as a first time head coach, and an offensive-minded coach at that, he'd like to hire an experienced defensive coordinator but the Dolphins insisted and McCoy pushed back. He ultimately told the team he would be more than happy to include Bowles in the interview process for a defensive coordinator but declined to make any promises to hire him. Obviously, the club went with Philbin as the new head coach and McCoy thinks he didn't get the job over the defensive coordinator issue.

It seemed like McCoy was a shoo-in for the job. But Philbin seems like he might be a better fit. If he can get Flynn to Miami, they'll be even better. That one game, where Flynn broke the GB records, should make him a valuable commodity

Bowles should have been Head Coach.

Mark this down, one day Todd Bowles will hoist a Lombardi while both these Philbin and McCoy are figuring out where their next offensive coordiantor job will be
