Dolphins Not Assuming QB Matt Flynn Will Join Joe Philbin
Posted By: SteveRobWhatever 01-21-2012 , 01:07 PM

Now that the Miami Dolphins have Joe Philbin in place as their next head coach, the attention swings to soon-to-be free agent QB Matt Flynn. Miami needs a quarterback and it just so happens that Philbin coached one of best available options while in Green Bay. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald writes that the Dolphins do have interest in Flynn but added that they’re not assuming that he’ll sign with the team simple because they brought in his former offensive coordinator to be their head coach. There will be a number of teams interest in Flynn if the Packers choose not to franchise him. Already we’ve heard that the Redskins and Browns have interest and the Seahawks could also check in on him at some point.

This and that tag carries a hefty price if they can't unload him...

But is Finley worth a tag?

I don't know...I lean towards no. I think they'd try to sign him. But the tag for a TE is relatively cheap...I believe...so it's not outta the question.

Thats why it hurts trade leverage. Anyone your dealing with knows you have to deal.

But in reality, you can accept significantly less value because its something as opposed to nothing. They would still get minumum a high second. After RG3 is off the board, no other top 10 team is gonna get a franchise QB unless they reach big time for Tannihill

True. Almost has to be. I dont recall many blockbuster extentions the last couple years other then Davis and Witten.
