Bengals WR Jerome Simpson Indicted On Drug Charge

Bengals wide receiver Jerome Simpson was indicted on drug charges Thursday in Kenton County. The indictment charges Simpson with trafficking marijuana over 8 oz and less than five pounds, according to Commonwealth's Attorney Rob Sanders and the charge is a Class D felony with a punishment of one to five years in prison. The indictment comes nearly four months after federal authorities swooped in on his Crestview Hills townhouse and seized a package containing 2.5 pounds of marijuana from California that had been shipped to his residence. Inside the home investigators also found about six more pounds of pot, scales and smoking devices. The head of the National Marijuana Initiative told California Watch after the arrest that the house was set up as a potential distribution network, the NMI is funded by the Office of National Drug Control Policy and helps coordinate marijuana enforcement operations across the U.S.
