| Jets Executive Vice President Matt Higgins Steps Down After Eight Years | | | Matt Higgins, the Jets' executive vice president of business operations, announced today he is stepping down from his position after eight years with the team. Higgins said he will explore new entrepreneurial opportunities, though he declined to reveal specifics yet. "Over the course of eight years, this has been a tremendous period of transformation," Higgins said today. "We built a new stadium; I co-led the process to find a place to build our practice facility and we re-located the team. I'm proud of the fact that we elevated the brand to new heights by embracing an approach that emphasizes transparency and engagement with the fans." Higgins, 37, spearheaded the team's involvement on Twitter and serves as a close adviser to owner Woody Johnson. He has accompanied Johnson, a lead fundraiser for Mitt Romney's campaign, on many of his political commitments, drawing on his experience as New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani's press secretary during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Johnson praised the "tremendous strides" the business staff made under Higgins' leadership, in an email sent to the Jets organization. Source: Newark Star-Ledger
