The city of Shakopee's new mayor said Wednesday that he wants a $920 million home for the team in his southwest metro city, financed in part with racino money. "We think that this stadium is one of the easiest solutions. We know that there are a lot of problems with other locations," Mayor Brad Tabke said at a news conference at the State Office Building in the Capitol complex. "It feels right, and a lot of different moving parts came together at the right time in order to get to this point and to make this happen." The timing of the 11th-hour submission, however, likely will work against its chances. "The timing is obviously difficult," said Vikings spokesman Jeff Anderson. "It's our belief that it's time to narrow the sites down to one rather than add additional locations." "It would be very difficult for this to go anywhere at this stage in the game," said Rep. Morrie Lanning, R-Moorhead, who is leading efforts in the House to draft a stadium bill. The other two stadium proposals are in Arden Hills and in Minneapolis.
