Giants Pound Falcons 24-2, Advance To Face Packers Next Week

In arguably their most complete performance of the season, the Giants dominated the Falcons in a 24-2 victory today in the first round of the NFC playoffs at MetLife Stadium. The Giants (10-7) earned a trip to Green Bay to take on the Packers (15-1) next Sunday in a divisional round game. Today, Eli Manning threw for 277 yards and three touchdowns, and Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw combined for 152 yards on the ground. Two of Manning's touchdowns were thrown to Hakeem Nicks, who had six catches for 115 yards. Just as important, the Giants completely shut down the Falcons' high-powered offense, keeping Matt Ryan, Roddy White, Tony Gonzalez and Co. out of the end zone all afternoon.

I mentioned the historic significance of this game in the game day thread.

Here's my source:

Did my research before Atlanta's last possession.

In the back of my mind, I wonder if the 49ers can beat the Saints.

Another Giants-49ers NFC Championship would be historic.
