Colts Owner Jim Irsay Will Draft Andrew Luck With First Overall Pick

Chris Mortensen reports that Colts owner Jim Irsay plans to draft Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the first overall pick in the NFL draft. Irsay sees symmetry in franchise history. In 1983 the Colts drafted John Elway, only to see his father Bob Irsay trade Elway to Denver. Fifteen years later in 1998 the Colts drafted Peyton Manning and he won't pass up the opportunity to draft Luck.

I reallllllly think that Luck should just sit behind Manning for a year or two. Yeah you were good in college, yeah you're the most "pro-ready" QB, but you haven't played a down in the NFL and Peyton has been one of the best QB's in this league for over 10 years. Swallow your pride and learn from one of the best.

Luck has no problem sitting. Peyton has a problem mentoring. He has no interest in that for whatever reason. I see Manning being traded to the Skins.

Even though Luck has his father standing guard, Luck should call Aaron Rodgers for a little advice. God knows he went through this with Favre.

I'd like to read something about Manning and his attitude about Luck and mentoring him. Anybody got a link to that?

how weird is it that the Colts have had the opportunity to draft Elway, Peyton, and Luck all about 14-15 years apart................

i would say they are the luckiest organization in football ............

some teams haven't had a single franchise type QB in the last 30 years and the Colts have drafted 3 ................... what the fuck?

No link but through the grapevine Manning has let it be known he has no interest.

QB trio has Dan Marino's mark in sight -- Adam Schefter's 10 Spot - ESPN

Archie Manning's new take -- Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck can co-exist with Indianapolis Colts - ESPN
