Patriots Storm Back To Beat Bills 49-21; Clinch No. 1 Seed In AFC Playoffs

The New England Patriots overcame a 21-point first-quarter deficit, scoring 49 unanswered points to blow out the Buffalo Bills 49-21 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. In doing so, the AFC East champs have clinched a home-field advantage throughout the AFC Playoffs. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady completed 23-of-35 pass attempts for 338 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. All three of Brady's touchdowns were to tight ends Rob Gronkowski (2) and Aaron Hernandez, whose 39-yard touchdown in the second quarter made Brady the third quarterback in NFL history to pass for over 5,000 yards. Gronkowski had a team-high eight receptions for 108 yards, giving him 1,327 for the season, setting a new single-season receiving yardage record for a tight end.

This team can sure put up a ton of points in a hurry. We give up a middle of the road 21 points a game, even with a crappy D, which isn't bad when you have a QB putting up 30 plus a game. Playoffs should be interesting. We got a good shot with home field advantage, and the bye to rest players. I like our chances better this year than the last 2, even with the weaker D.

I'm anxious to see how the playoffs play out. None of the AFC teams really scare me, but you never know how stuff will play out. This defense is a question mark, but with guys like Mayo and Chung getting back healthy it should be getting better.

well, the oddsmakers have the pats as the CLEAR favorite to win the AFC this season. I'm still not sure how their defense is going to stop anyone in the playoffs but maybe everyone thinks they're just going to outscore the opponents.

Here's the problem with that theory, though. the pats have had great offenses for the past couple of years, but when playoff time comes around and they face great defenses, they can be contained on offense and their swiss cheese defense gives up points.

and, they will likely have to face Pittsburgh and/or Baltimore in these playoffs, 2 teams with great defenses.

I'm just not seeing it but maybe i will be proven wrong.
