| | | NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith has received his $1 million bonus from the NFLPA Executive Committee, Mike Freeman of CBSSports.com reports. "The Executive Committee of the NFLPA stands firmly united behind Executive Director DeMaurice Smith and what has been accomplished under his leadership," the NFLPA said in a statement released to Freeman. "Today, we made an affirmative decision on his discretionary compensation. We look forward to having him serve our membership long into the future." There had been whispers that had the bonus not been paid, Smith would leave the union just a few months after negotiating the 2011 collective bargaining agreement. Smith is up for re-election in March 2012, but the payment of a bonus this large is a sign that he will likely remain at the helm of the union for the foreseeable future. Source: Mac's Football Blog
