  | | | One Team Studying Tape Of Reggie Bush As A Potential Slot Receiver | | | Word is that if tailback Reggie Bush doesn't return to New Orleans for the 2011 season — and despite an $11.8 price tag, that remains a possibility — he will be more sought after than some people think as a free agent. Last week, The Tip Sheet reported that at least one team with time on its hands during the lockout was reviewing videotape of Bush as a potential slot receiver. But we heard from some teams this week that he is just as valuable as a change-of-pace back, who gets maybe 10-12 "touches" per game as a back and return man. Said one team executive: "The thing with (Bush) will be timing. You don't want to run out when free agency eventually starts, and sign a (versatile) back, and then have Bush pop free, because the Saints can't afford him. You might be kicking yourself for not waiting on Bush, and seeing what his market is out there. So it's probably going to take some legwork, you know?" Source: FOX Sports

So I guess Bush is kinda in between. Still probably too small for outside though. | DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin are both 6 feet or under and under 200 pounds but both play on the outside.
Bush is more than capable playing the X or Z receiver positions. |

You've got Meachem, Henderson..hopefully Moore, if they resign him. Bush would add another weapon in the receiving corps, while Ingram gives them more stability in the backfield. This can work out great for Bush in NOLA as long as they utilize it properly, and of course..they agree to a cut in pay.

Payton knows what he's doing with Reggie. It's the other teams that are going to have no idea what to do with him if he leaves.

Imagine if Metcalf was on that '98 Falcons team that eventually went to the Super Bowl.
I also remember him being apart of the Ryan Leaf trade while with the Chargers. | Quote:

The proper way to use him as far as HB moving with the ball from the backfield is concerned..is sitting on the bench. Do not let him attempt a punt return..ever. Use him as a screen WR/HB, slot WR..or else let him go.

for every one fitz, calvin, andre theres 5 santonios, jennings, whites
reggie is not even remotely close to being too small, too slow, or not having good enough hands. hes perfect size, plenty fast, plenty strong enough (probably will be one of the strongest WRs in the league actually) and has great hands.
he would have still gone #2 overall if he came out as a full time WR, it would be a transition but he could definitely pull it off |
