| Cowboys Downplay Squabble Between SS Gerald Sensabaugh, CB Terence Newman | | |
The Cowboys downplayed the fourth quarter squabble on the field between cornerback Terence Newman and strong safety Gerald Sensabaugh. After Eli Manning hit Mario Manningham for a 5-yard gain, Newman and Sensabaugh exchanged words before Sensabaugh pushed Newman back with one arm. Linebacker Keith Brooking separated the two, but the fracas apparently forced interim coach Jason Garrett to call a timeout to calm the two down. Eventually Sensabaugh and Newman put arms around each other, a signal that all was well. “The funny thing is it was something that wasn’t even with a play,” Newman said. “We’re not getting calls (from the sideline). We’re both frustrated. We’re not getting calls. We don’t know what the defense is. We’re sitting out there, like it was one of those things, we’re going at each other…But we won.” Garrett downplayed the altercation, saying he later found the two in the locker room talking to each other about different plays during the game. “Great competitors talking about what was going on out there, making sure they were on the same page with the call and wanting to get it right”
