Vikings QB Brett Favre Taking Reps At Cornerback During Practice

Things are so dire in Minnesota that quarterback Brett Favre took some practice snaps Wednesday at cornerback -- in addition to his regular snaps under center. Now that suspended San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson won't be riding to the Minnesota Vikings' rescue, Favre took to doing everything possible to help coach up the receivers he has to help get on the same page with them. According to the NFL Network, Favre took some practice repetitions as a defensive back to try and accelerate that bonding process. The 0-2 Vikings face an early crossroads game Sunday against the Detroit Lions. With injured 2009 receptions leader Sidney Rice out indefinitely following Aug. 23 hip surgery and with second-year slot receiver in and out of practice because of recurring migraine headaches and a bruised hip, Favre is trying his best to promote the synergy with newcomers Greg Camarillo and recently signed Hank Baskett. "We've obviously had some issues, not only with now having Hank in, but Percy being down, Sidney being out, having to kind of figure out who runs what best,'' Favre says. "I think it's important that we get all the meeting time we can get. And then some. We have a lot of new guys. The issue is pressed even more in my mind. We have to score more points than what we're scoring. It's going to be hard right now to score a lot of points,'' Favre says. "It's always hard to score points. Considering we're working guys in and out, we're kind of piecing this puzzle together, you can't make it any harder by turning the ball over or taking too many chances.''
