| Ruling Expected On Chargers WR Vincent Jackson By Next Week | | | Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the NFL's Special Master is expected to rule "within a week or so" on if the Chargers can keep wide receiver Vincent Jackson on the Roster Exempt list through Week 6. The NFL says, essentially, that Jackson is out until the season's seventh game, regardless of which team he is on. There is the matter of his three-game suspension for his two DUI arrests plus the fact he cannot officially report to a team while suspended, and then there is the fact the Chargers put him on the Roster Exempt List last month, which precludes him from playing in three games after he reports. However, it is the contention of the NFL Players Association that a trade to another team would remove Jackson from Roster Exempt status. Jackson's agents and the Chargers expect the matter to go to arbitration and the ruling by the NFL's Special Master, a gentleman named Stephen Burbank who decides disputes between the league and union, is expected in the next week, though no one knows for sure.
