The Saints released McCray on June 21, reportedly to avoid paying a $1.25 million dollar roster bonus that was due at the end of the month. McCray's new deal reportedly included a $1.5 million base salary, with an additional $1 million available in incentives. McCray had a pair of tackles in four pre-season games. A seventh-round pick out of the University of Florida by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2004, McCray totaled 93 tackles, including 22 quarterback sacks over his first four seasons in the NFL.
