Rams Officially Place WR Donnie Avery On Injured Reserve

The Rams officially placed Donnie Avery (knee) on injured reserve Sunday, ending his season, according to the team's Twitter page. Avery tore his ACL in Thursday's preseason win over the Patriots, and his absence won't help an offense that has struggled mightily in recent years. Rookie quarterback Sam Bradford will have to find a new No. 1 target, and those duties could fall to fellow rooke Mardy Gilyard or second-year player Brandon Gibson. Avery has excellent speed, and he should return ready to go next season if his surgery goes well.
