| Jaguars QB David Garrard Looking Forward To More Playing Time This Week | | | The Jacksonville Jaguars' starters are expected to play more in this week's second preseason game than they did in the opener and quarterback David Garrard welcomes the work. Garrard, entering his fourth season as the Jaguars' starting quarterback, struggled early last week, and with backup Luke McCown playing well against the Philadelphia Eagles' second-team defense, a mini-quarterback controversy arose in Jacksonville. Garrard, whose status as the starter and ability to lead the team back to the playoffs was one of the Jaguars' major off-season storylines, didn't address the "controversy" much this week but he did say he's anxious to play. "When you only get a small taste and it wasn't the way you wanted, you're dying to get right back out there and feel good about going forward," Garrard said. The first-team offense produced just one first down in a quarter against the Eagles and were out-gained by Philadelphia's first team, 165-10. McCown passed for 244 yards and three touchdowns and while the Jaguars – including McCown – dismissed quarterback controversy talk this week, a solid performance by the startersr could be what's needed to dismiss them even further.
