Patriots WR Torry Holt In A Battle For A Roster Spot

The New England Patriots have such an embarrassment of riches at wide receiver that a former Pro-Bowl wideout with more than 900 catches and 13,000 receiving yards on his resume, faces a potential fight for a roster spot this summer but that is the position Torry Holt finds himself in this summer according to Don Banks of SI.com. Randy Moss and Wes Welker are givens.and second year men Julian Edelman and Brandon Tate are favorites of the coaching staff. That leaves the 34-year-old Torry Holt and third round pick Taylor Price, who the coaching staff compares to a young David Givens, possibly competing for one roster spot. It's hard to believe the Patriots would cut a 2010 third round pick that quickly. "I'm just working, man,'' Holt said Saturday morning, when I asked him where he thinks he fits into the Patriots depth chart. "I'm excited to be on the football field having an opportunity to play again this year. I have to convince them that I'm even worthy of a role."I could get real ego-ish and say, 'Forget about it. I've done my thing. Check the record books.' Or I can take the approach I've always taken. I've always been humble and came in with the approach I've got to make the squad every year. I don't see it any different being here. I'm in a new organization. They don't know anything about me"

I wouldn't be all that surprised if holt got cut, but I'd like to see his experience on the field...but I'm a big Brandon Tate fan...loved him at NC, so hopefully he can step it up
