Bears DT Tommie Harris Says His Knees Finally Feel Healthy

For the first time in recent memory, Bears defensive tackle Tommie Harris is injury-free coming into camp. "It's a confidence builder," Harris said Thursday evening. "Being able to come out here injury-free, participate in every minicamp, OTAs. It's a confidence builder, and hopefully I can continue to build on that." Although Harris has missed only seven regular season games, the former Pro Bowler has a well-documented history of knee problems. The knees caused Harris to frequently miss practice over the last few years to the point where Lovie Smith did not dress Harris for a game last October due to "coach's decision." Harris practiced more frequently after that and he plans to keep that practice schedule this summer. "I'm more than able to go through every practice," Harris said. "I was more than able last year also, but I do what the doctors tell me to do, I do what Coach Smith tells me to do. I have got up in age [27] since playing, so if they say I need to sit, I'll sit. I don't think the championship or the Super Bowl is won during training camp in these one-day practices. I just feel like I will be ready for the season."

You mean like the year before...& the year before..& the year before?

Time for an end to the rhetoric & just show up & play...if you can...& for all the money that's being paid to you. If you can't, I'm sure we can find Ted Washington at an all-you-can-eat BBQ & talk him into clogging the middle for a whole lot less.

& a footnote: The "coach's decision" was based more on his attitude & approach, not his health which LS admitted to in a roundabout way.
