When interviewed recently, Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker certainly sounded optimistic about his recovery from reconstructive left knee surgery and his return to football this season. Yesterday, team owner Robert Kraft, who recently spent time with Welker, added to that optimism. “He’s going to be back there. I have confidence in that,” said Kraft, who took time out from the Science of Sports science fair at Gillette Stadium. “I happened to see him a week-and-a-half ago. He looks great. We think everything should be fine there.” Kraft said he and Pats coach Bill Belichick sometimes joke that Welker is “the true Patriot missile.”
