Vikings Won't Move RB Tony Gerhart To Fullback

Stanford RB Toby Gerhart, who won the Doak Walker Award as the nation's top running back after rushing for 1,871 yards and 28 touchdowns, has the size (6-foot, 231 pounds) to play fullback, but will vie for the role of Adrian Peterson's backup. "I see him now playing in the backfield, whether it's the I-back or the split backs, or with Adrian in the back field," head coach Brad Childress said. The Vikings thought enough of Gerhart that they swapped second-round picks with Houston and sent their third-rounder (93rd overall) to the Texans. General manager Rick Spielman said the Vikings made the proactive move because they were concerned Houston might take Gerhart because it needed a running back.

I sure hope so, then again, Vikes fans always wanted to see Chester Taylor and Adrian Peterson in the back field together, and I remember them doing it once.
