Steelers Considering A Suspension For QB Ben Roethlisberger

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger expressed "gratitude" Monday that he was not charged with sexual assault in Georgia and sorrow for causing "disappointment and negative attention", but his troubles might not be over. Sources have told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the Steelers are considering a suspension of their 28-year-old quarterback, if National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell does not beat them to the punch, even though prosecutors in Georgia announced the investigation and case against him have been dropped. Steelers President Art Rooney II was described as "furious" by some after watching a news conference from Milledgeville, Ga., Monday afternoon that detailed in graphic terms some of Mr. Roethlisberger's escapades with a drunken 20-year-old woman.

The conduct policy the way it is written right now wouldn't be consistent with the league suspending Ben. The Steelers could suspend him and the league will back it. Or the league could come up with a new policy to coincide with the suspension and suspend him.

He should be suspended. If I were the Steelers I would suspend him on my own. The dude has shown he clearly doesn't get it...so maybe a suspension would knock his head straight.

Would look great for the organization if they were the ones to suspend him...

Hmmm, Maybe Charlie Daniels was right. The devil went down to Georgia, he was looking for a soul to steal. Seems to me he got a couple. Ray Lewis, Jamal Lewis, Michael Vick, Ben Roethlisberger. Make Georgia off limits during the off season.
