Statement Released By Steelers President Art Rooney II

Steelers President Art Rooney II released the following statement on the Steelers website in regards to quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. "The investigation process in Georgia has been deliberate and the District Attorney's decision regarding Ben Roethlisberger speaks for itself. During the past few weeks I have met with Ben on a number of occasions, not only to discuss this incident, but also to discuss his commitment to making sure something like this never happens again. The Pittsburgh Steelers take the conduct of players and staff very seriously. Ben will now have to work hard to earn back the respect and trust of Steelers fans, and to live up to the leadership responsibilities we all expect of him. In the coming days Ben will meet with Commissioner Goodell to discuss his resolve to abide by the league's personal conduct standards. After consultation with the Commissioner, our organization will determine the next steps in this process."

fuck you rooney.

double standard. ben is clearly getting preferrential treatment, the steelers do this all the time.

remember when cedric wilson and harrison got domestic abuse charges against them in the same year. ced=cut instantly, harrison got an extension

i understand that ben>holmes and harrison>wilson

but they are being hypocrites big time when they make you think its the steeler way and go all old school iron fist on some players but not the important ones

now i would like them to be known as not holding themselves in a higher standard like they want the image to be, but rather the same as everyone else with all the free passes ben has gotten and holmes getting the ax

The Steelers need to put Ben on a very short leash at this point.

I mentioned this in the other thread, but I wonder if he's still gonna take his bus tour next year?

kind of a dumb statement, but I agree with your initial assessment.

Jeff Reed's constantly an issue...one of the reasons I love him...but he should've been cut as well...lol.

If Ben has another issue, he's obviously gone in 2011...
