DeSean Jackson Says Eagles' "Young Guns" Ready For Opportunities

When the Eagles open the 2010 season in five months, the average starter on the projected offense will be just over 25 years old, last year, the starting opening-day offense was over 27 years old and in 2007, that figure was 28. Gone are Donovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook, Shawn Andrews, Kevin Curtis, Reggie Brown, all replaced by younger versions who the Eagles hope can accomplish what the old guard never did. The defense, which shed veterans like Darren Howard, Chris Clemons and Sheldon Brown, has been undergoing a similar reshaping and has a projected 2010 starting age of just over 27. Eagles WR DeSean Jackson said, "Our offense is a lot of young guns coming in and taking advantage of a lot of great opportunities," Jackson said. "We're here for the long haul. When I first came to this team, we had guys like (Brian) Dawkins, (Donovan) McNabb and (Brian) Westbrook. It's going to be exciting. We're able to all communicate with each other. We hang out, we do all the things together. Any time you have that relationship with the guys that you're coming in and sweating and competing with, we're able to go out on the field and have that good camaraderie."

the defense is going to dictate where the eagles go.

At this point I think both sides are equal giant question marks.

Without question, but I don't think many think the defense is going to do much. I don't view next year as a year that they'll be able to compete for a SB title or anything, so watching Kolb and the rest of the young guys on offense will be the fun part of the team.

how so ? you have a bunch of talent at the skill positions on the offense along with some decent o-lineman who should do better just by playing along side each other another season.

there's really nothing to be excited about on the defensive side beyond trent cole.

absolutely but if the eagles draft defense we may have some good young talent on the defense to watch as well.

the closer and closer we get the more excited i get. it feels like 1999 all over again.

Kolb is question mark enough to call the offense a question mark for next year but then you add in the question of the offensive line. All the talent at the skill positions won't mean shit if Kolb can't perform and Kolb can't perform if he doesn't have protection. IMO these are huge question marks right now. As big as the ones on defense.

the o-line will be better by default just by playing together for another year. there's talent there although the center position is iffy.

sure kolb is a question mark but he along with the other young guys have a ton of potential. there's damn there zero potential on the defensive side of the ball.

both question marks but the defense is a much. much bigger one.
