Robert Kraft Says Owners More Unified On CBA Then He's Ever Seen

This week's NFL annual meeting would be an awfully important one. It will be covered and scrutinized that way, but the truth is that the guys running this show, the 32 owners, don't see it that way. To them, it's important the way every league meeting is important, period. "I'm sort of intrigued that everyone's saying what you're saying,'' said Patriots owner Robert Kraft, asked to address the perception that this won't be a run-of-the-mill event. "The facts are, we're playing football this year, and nothing's really changing. The only thing that's really changed is that the unrestricted free agent pool is smaller, and this group [of UFAs] happens to be older. Probably the most important thing about this league meeting that's different than other years is that we continue to have a very united ownership. This is my 17th season, and I've never seen ownership as united on any issue as we are on this issue. We have a great sport, and we have to be smart enough to allow the league to grow for the players and the fans.''
