Jets Re-Sign SS Eric Smith To A One-Year, $1.176M Deal

New York Jets restricted free agent strong safety Eric Smith signed his one-year, $1.176 million tender today, the team announced. Smith is slated to compete with Brodney Pool and James Ihedigbo for a starting job in the wake of Kerry Rhodes being traded to the Arizona Cardinals. The Jets assigned the low tender to Smith, a former third-round draft pick.
