Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell Weighs In At 271 For OTAs

According to the San Jose Mercury News, Russell tipped the scales at 271 pounds when he showed up a day late for offseason workouts. The former LSU quarterback is listed on the roster at 260 pounds, but has reportedly slimmed down considerably since last season, Russell has been rumored to weigh nearly 300 pounds in the past. When we were at the Senior Bowl in Russell’s hometown of Mobile, Ala., we spoke to several of his associates from his high school days and the consensus among them was that Russell’s biggest problem was his diet and tendency to not work out on a consistent basis.

I just don't understand why you would draft a QB with the #1 overall pick after his former coaches tell you that he has a shitty diet and does not work out those are key components to know that you don't have someone committed to the team and that they don't care about hard work and dedication.

Raiders could have been better off cutting him and signing Delhomme or Anderson while they had they chance.
