Bears DE Julius Peppers Dismisses His Critics

Defensive End Julius Peppers has heard critics question his motivation before, and the Chicago Bears' new free-agent acquisition doesn't let it affect him. "Sometimes in your career, people have to nitpick about things because they have nothing else to say," Peppers said on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "They can't say there's a lack of production, or anything else, but a lack of motivation. That's the thing people try to nitpick at." The five-time Pro Bowl defensive end signed a six-year deal worth $91.5 Million. Peppers was asked if his disarming personality fuels the perception that he sometimes takes plays off. "I've heard it a million times, and I think that it's true [about his personality fueling that perception]," he said. "That's a fair statement to make, that people do mistake that sometimes. "But you know, that's just a part of my personality that's not going to change. Whether people mistake it for a lack of motivation or not playing hard, that's just who I am as a person. "

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm hoping Peppers steps it up now with a new contract and new team. Many players do.
