| Mike Shanahan Comfortable That Larry Johnson's Past Won't Be An Issue | | | Recently signed Redskins running back Larry Johnson has been arrested four times for domestic violence-related incidents, and in March 2009 he pleaded guilty to two counts of disturbing the peace, which stemmed from separate incidents. He was sentenced to two years' probation and ordered to complete both anger control counseling and 40 hours of community service. Obviously, Johnson comes with some baggage, which Coach Mike Shanahan said he strongly considered before the Redskins signed the Pro Bowler. "Well, first of all, there's a lot of thought that goes into it, before you make those decisions," Shanahan said Wednesday during media availability at Redskins Park. "And I feel very good about Larry, what he brings to the table. Obviously, I've done some research on him. I've talked to a number of people about him before we actually brought him in. Now, I'm actually looking forward to him competing at that position. But I can assure you that a lot of thought, a lot of study, goes into checking somebody's background and talking to a number of different people before it's actually done."
