They had to make the deal better than what the Cardinals 3rd round pick, otherwise the Chargers would have just refused dealing him to the Seahawks.
Really the swap of 2nds would of been enough value wise (about mid 3rd), the extra 3rd was icing on the cake. I'm surprised that Whitehurst was value more than guys like Quinn, Seneca, Boldin, Cromartie etc.
If you asked most Charger fans what they thought we'd get for Whitehurst, most would have thought a late round pick. They'd be thrilled with any 3rd let alone what we got from Seattle. So I'm pretty happy, opens up the possibility to not draft a RB in round 1 and potentially fill holes at RB and NT.
Hopefully he works out for the Seahawks (unless it's against the Chargers).
