| Ex-Chargers QB Ryan Leaf Nears Plea Deal On Drug, Burglary Charges | | | James Farren, the district attorney prosecuting Leaf in Randall County, Texas, said he is close to reaching a plea deal with former Chargers quarterback Ryan Leaf on drug and burglary charges. He said there was a “50-50” chance Leaf will receive prison time as part of his recommended sentence. Leaf’s charges stem from his tenure as an assistant football coach at West Texas A&M. “Some of the victims are not that enthusiastic about him going to prison,” Farren said. “We try to at least give the victim a voice in these things. They’re young college players, and they have still have some rapport with the guy. They feel bad about the possibility of him going to prison.” On the other hand, Farren said, “other victims are not all that sympathetic.” They’re young college players. They looked up to him even though I’m sure they feel a bit betrayed.” Source: San Diego Union-Tribune | | |
