Quarterback Donovan McNabb, who is being shopped by Eagles management, won't be in Philadelphia this week for the start of the team's voluntary workouts. It's not that he's angered by the trade talk; it's just his normal offseason routine, and he chooses to work out in Phoenix instead of Philadelphia. Former league MVP Rich Gannon says that's a mistake. "I know the guy (McNabb) is a fine player," Gannon told the Dallas Morning News. "But I do know this: I know that he gets on a plane at the end of the season, and he heads back to Arizona. He likes being there. I know he brings players out there to work out. I'm sure he participates in the (Eagles') minicamp. I just don't know if in this day and age you can operate that way. I think a lot of success in your program really starts, a lot can get accomplished, in that offseason program. I think it's important to be in the weight room with this guys. I think it's important to be throwing to the young receivers. Look at Drew Brees. He lives in New Orleans. I think it's important to be a fixture not only in the community but in that building, particularly toward the development of young players."
