Sources Say LaDainian Tomlinson To The Jets Is A Done Deal

The team that just two months ago ended one of the best Chargers' seasons ever now appears to have absconded with one of the best Chargers' players ever as according to three people with knowledge of the process, LaDainian Tomlinson has decided to sign with the New York Jets. "It's 100 percent," one source said. "Done deal." The deal is expected to be announced today or tomorrow. There have also been reports the New Orleans Saints were interested in bringing Tomlinson for a visit but the lure of playing in the Big Apple and under Brian Schottenheimer, the Jets offensive coordinator and son of former Chargers coach and LT confidant Marty Schottenheimer, evidently won out.

So the Jets now have their backup to Shonn Greene. Greene, LT and maybe Leon Washington. Not a bad trio.

I want to root for LDT, but I can't if he wears that uniform.

Just as I figured. Tomlinson wants more carries and won't be playing behind a superstar like Adrian Peterson. I guess him having no problems being A.P.'s backup was just a good marketing ploy.

Me either, but we still need someone for third down. And I think LT would fit the roll better than one of the guys on the roster. The secondary needs to get fixed in the draft.

Why not go after Leon Washington of the Jets then? Running backs are plentiful int he draft this year too. I wouldn't sweat it too much. What I would sweat is A.P.'s fumbling issues.

I wonder how much money the Jets offered Tomlinson?
