New Eagles CB Marlin Jackson To Compete To Start At Free Safety

The Eagles' trouble at free safety caused more problems than the team expected last season, but the signing of former Colts CB Marlin Jackson could be the answer. Although Jackson has chronically bad knees and was not tendered a contract by the Colts, the Eagles feel Jackson is a downhill player who will fit well in their system and make the adjustment fine to a position Jackson has played some while in college and in a few games in the pros, so he should be mostly comfortable. "When we watched him on tape, we saw that he had a lot of the traits we look for in a free safety in our defense," Eagles GM Howie Roseman said. "He's instinctive, he's tough, he's quick, and he played a little bit there in Indianapolis. ... We thought it was an easy transition for him." Jackson will compete with Macho Harris and Quintin Demps for the starting job but should win it if he's healthy.

Possibly another team down that may have snagged Earl Thomas

He won't work out at safety. The Colts tried to move him there when he was younger, but he just does not have enough speed and he is not a huge hitter, but he can make some solid tackles. Shouldha stayed in Indy.

He was a RFA but they didn't tender him so they really didn't want him anymore and there is no way he can stay in a team that doesn't want you.

I just hope he is a good player since i dunno much about him except about his injuries

Not true at all

The only reason the Colts did not tender him was because they did not want to have to pay him a high tender. Their plan was to re-sign him. They did the same thing last year with Freddy Keiaho

Any player will go where they are wanted more or where the money is better. If the Colts weren't gonna pay him a higher tender then he had every option to look for a better offer which was exactly what he did.

By the way theeraser21 is he a good player? i really don't know much about him except that interception to Brady he did and his MCL injuries

He is injury prone, but when he is in he can cover most guys. I'd like him to have more speed, but he is a great tackler
