Eagles Won't Bring Back TE Alex Smith Next Year

Tight end Alex Smith won't be back with the Eagles according to agent Drew Rosenhaus. Smith, who spent one season with the team, won't be offered a tender and is free to sign with any team on March 5, when free agency begins. The Eagles signed Smith, the former Patriots and Buccaneers tight end, in September after rookie Cornelius Ingram went down for the season with a torn knee ligament and after the team released disappointing veteran Matt Schobel.
