| Titans Say C Kevin Mawae Would Only Return As A Backup | | | Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher said the return of Kevin Mawae to the team in 2010 would be as a backup. "The organization would very much like to have him back in some sort of backup capacity because he's a tremendous leader and has provided a great deal of stability for us offensively," Fisher said. Though Fisher said the team had some brief conversations with Mawae about returning as a starter, the organization ultimately decided to sign Eugene Amano to a contract extension. A new five-year contract will pay Amano some $18 million in his first three seasons, including a $7.25 million signing bonus. "It was the organization's decision to go ahead and re-sign Eugene Amano, that gives Leroy (Harris) the chance to step up and play," Fisher said. "It was a difficult decision for us because we decided to go in the direction of the youthful movement." Source: TitansRadio.com | | |
