Eagles To Pursue A Running Back To Complement LeSean McCoy?

Eagles running back LeSean McCoy carried for 637 yards with four touchdowns as a rookie, averaging 4.1 yards per carry and also caught 40 balls for 308 yards. With the release of Brian Westbrook, McCoy is the future and he's more than capable of being an every-down back as he continues to work on his blocking and blitz pickup. But he will be just 22 years old when the Eagles head to Lehigh next summer and Sheil Kapadia of The Philadelphia Inquirer says the Eagles will need to find the right complement for McCoy.

Chester Taylor seems to be the right guy.

Taylor is still young enough to be relevant.

Tomlinson might be a great fit, too. Might be the perfect system for him also. Get him out in space and let him catch the ball and make moves after instead of contact at the line of scrimmage.

Hmmmm.

The only thing is that the Eagles have never seemed to do much with the "big" backs, altho there is only very small sample size to go on (the PSU kid who's name escapes me, and the UH kid they drafted in the 7th, who's name escapes me). They've had more success with guys like Buckhalter as the #2. More middle sized guys (220ish) with some pop and quickness and a decent overall skill set, blocking is big for there HB's

As much as I hate to say it, if they Cowboys sever ties with Barber, the Eagles would be retarded not to snatch him up. He doesnt have the tread to carry the load, but he fits everything the Eagles want as a backup HB. Still a good runner, underrated checkdown type receiving threat, and is among if not the best at blitz pickup.

Although I think Barber can be a total ass clown at times, I would be in favor of this move big-time.

Trade for Michael Bush. My money is on Chester Taylor. Already knows most of the offense, still has a lot of gas left in the tank...Chester may want a starting gig though.

that is true and taylor has proven he can handle the starting role although not over an entire season really. but knowing this offense is a huge plus. barber is another thought if the cowboys release him. beyond the help he'd give us in the running game he'd also give the team some inside info.
