Chiefs To Trade DE Glenn Dorsey?

Chiefs defensive end Glenn Dorsey could be on the move. Dorsey was the No. 5 overall pick in 2008 and was considered by many league observers to be the best talent in the draft, however, Kansas City's new regime changed to a 3-4 defense last year. Dorsey likely would not command a top-15 pick, but the Chiefs could decide to cut ties and try to recoup what it can for a player who doesn't fit the system.

I don't watch many Chiefs games...unless they are playing the Cowboys...how do Chief fans feel about this one? Was Dorsey not performing? Not developing?

He's kinda slow and kinda heavy, but he did jump up and block a pass out of no where last year.

Never seen him jump before, maybe Haley can get him in shape.

I think he's the best defensive lineman we have in KC. He's been in the league 2 years and had to play 2 completely different schemes. He holds up well at the point of attack in the run game and does a good job of keeping the offensive line off the linebackers. When he was out our run defense was signficantly worse. At this point he hasn't looked like the All Pro everyone hoped for, but he's easily shaping up to be a 10 year starter in the NFL. The only real downside I've seen is that he doesn't really get to the quarterback from the defensive end position, but as long as he can hold the line and eat up blockers he'll do.

Dorsey is still developing and learning the game. I'd hate to see the Chiefs give up on him this early in his career. Sure he hasn't produced up to expectations, he only made it tough on himself by looking so damn awesome leading up to the draft setting up some lofty expectations and most people expect instant results from rookies. Things don't go as planned, and like trips mentioned he's had to play in 2 different defenses since being drafted.

To be fair, it's not really his job to get at the qb from the end spot in a 34. Aside from a couple notable exceptions (Bruce Smith, to a lesser degree Seymour), you're rarely going to see a pure 34 DE getting any notable sack numbers. Usually what sacks they do get come when they move inside for nickel packs.
