Cowboys RB Felix Jones To Be The Featured Back?

Cowboys running back Marion Barber had significant health concerns while fading down the stretch for the second consecutive season and hasn't provided much bang for the buck after signing a seven-year, $45 million contract. The easy decision is to make Felix Jones the lead horse. With the Cowboys' depth at tailback, he doesn't need to be a workhorse, but Dallas has to get its most dynamic player about 15 touches per game, he's a major part of this franchise's future.

Signs have been pointing to this for weeks, if not months.

15 touches a game does not a feature back make. Jones might do more with 15 than most, but you can't run an offense around 15 a game. He's probably always going to be what Reggie Bush wishes he was, a guy who can only handle a third of the work but puts up half the offense from the position with that 3rd. Nothing wrong with that, but that doesn't make him the primary back.

Or for the past two years.

I think he can handle the load if you want him too (and if he doesnt get hurt) he isnt tiny at 220 LBS. However, you dont want him to.

He is a guy, IMO that you can give 15 carries a game to normally, with a couple 25 carry game thrown in there if the matchup dictates it

My concern isn't his size, as you pointed out 220 and 6' isn't exactly small, but his propensity to get injured, especially so early in his career.

I dont count 2007 against him so much, that was kind of a freak thing. Im gonna give him another year before I give him the injury prone lable. He was whole college career

I assume you mean 2008 as he was in Arkansas in 07...but just to play devils advocate he was second fiddle to McFadden the whole time he was at Arkansas, never went over 150ish carries and even had Hillis taking some heat off him in 07. He did a whole shitload with what he was given but you can't really say he had much of a workload in college.
