Saints QB Drew Brees was selected as MVP of Super Bowl XLIV after leading his team to a 31-17 win over the Colts, and the first NFL title in franchise history. Brees completed 32 of 39 passes for 288 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including a two yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Shockey in the fourth quarter to give the Saints the lead for the first time. The Saints trailed the Colts 10-0 in the first quarter and tied the Redskins (Super Bowl XXII) for the largest rally in Super Bowl history.

A number of guys would have been fair, but with that completion percentage on that many attempts with no major errors, it is hard to not choose Brees.

However, why no love for Garrett Hartley? 3 long kicks that were vital, as well as the onside. He did a phenomenal job selling that kickoff on what is arguably the most important play on the game. I think he enters the discussion too.

Right on! I wouldn't give it to him over Brees but I'd give it to him over Porter. Porter's INT was great but it was just one play and they already had the lead. Hartley kept them in the game, imagine had he gone 0-3? Saints could have lost that game then, he helped keep them in when they couldn't get in the endzone early.

It was Thomas Morstead (The Punter) who did the onside kick...
